July 7th-- Monday

  Enjoy several scenic stops driving to Homer.  Pan for Gold,  hike out to Byron Glacier, and visit the Portage Glacier Visitor Center. Camp in Homer.

 

 

July 8th-- Tuesday

  Take a Whale Watching Wildlife Cruise 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  View seals, sea lions, belugas, orcas, and many colorful sea birds. Visit www.rainbowtours.net  Camp in Homer.

 

July 9th-- Wednesday

  Drive to Crescent Lake and explore raw Alaskan Mountains.  Hike into camp at Crescent Lake. 

 

 

July 10th--  Thursday

  Continue hiking from Crescent Lake through the Kenai Range and be picked up for the drive to Seward.  Visit some historical sights and check out a few cool waterfalls.  Camp on the Beach in Seward.

 

 

July 11th--  Friday

  Take a Sea Kayaking training course with www.sunnycove.com , then paddle after lunch; or go with the experienced kayakers on a full day adventure.  Paddling around Resurrection Bay  is   breathtaking.  Camp in Seward.

 

 

July 12th-- Saturday

  Start the day with a Wilderness Sled Dog Ride and tour.  Visit 60 Alaskan Huskies that are being trained for future Iditarod races.  Visit www.ididaride.com.  Spend the afternoon with a Glacier Naturalist on a short hike to Exit Glacier.  Visit www.charteroption.com .   Camp in the remote town of Hope.

 

July 13th--  Sunday

 This morning, hike up to Hope Point  to get a spectaculor view of the Cook Inlet, or walk along the coastal trail over milder terrain. Drive to the Big Game Wildlife Refuge where  injured black bears, grizzlies, moose, caribou, and elk are being nursed back to health.  Drive to the Matan uska Valley and camp.   

July 14th-- Monday

  Spend this morning hiking around on the Matanuska Glacier using crampons and axes with experienced  tour guides.  Set up top ropes  for ice climbing if desired.  Drive to Hatcher Pass, set up camp and go on a evening stroll in Archangel Valley. 

 

July 15th--Tuesday

  Visit historic Talkeetna enjoying some free time to check out the old buildings and main strip.  Eat lunch and then drive to Denali National Park to Camp.

 

 

July 16th-- Wednesday

  Tour  Denali National Park where wildlife is undisturbed, natural, and unthreatened. Watch bears cross the road, moose gallop in the fields, and eagles soar through the swift mountain breeze.  Camp again in Denali.  

 

July 17th-- Thursday

  Free time this morning to check out downtown Denali. and do some shopping.  After lunch  go White Water Rafting with www.denalioutdoorscenter.com.  Paddle class III-IV rapids through the canyon or take the wilderness float with class I-II rapids.  Enjoy a film on the Northern Lights at dusk. 

 

 
July 18th-- Friday

   Drive to Eclutna Lake for a hike into the hills or around the lake; canoing is optional.  Drive to Anchorage for your flight home.

Day 1

Breakfast-  Pastries at the Bake Shop.

Lunch-   is a basic sandwich station.  Create your own sandwich from a tasty selection and add chips, cookies and drink.

Dinner-  Hamburgers or Veggie-burgers served with two types of salad and corn on the cob.  All students help participate in preparation, cooking and cleanup.

 

Day 2

Breakfast-  A hearty pot of fried potatoes, onions, peppers, eggs, and cheese; served with  sausage links, coffee and juice.

Lunch-  Served on the Whale Watching Cruise.

Dinner- Spaghetti with meatballs, salad, and french bread

 

 

Day 3

Breakfast-  Blueberry pancakes with bananas, juice, coffee and bacon. 

Lunch-  Sandwich Station

Dinner-  Burritos packed with several different types of beans, veggies, meat (optional), with salads, rice and beverage.

Dessert-  Dessert ranges from Dutch oven style pies and cakes, to puddings and cookies.

Day 4

Breakfast-  Oatmeal with fresh raspberries, blueberries, crowberries and juice. 

Lunch- Sandwich Station

Dinner-  Natural Mac and Cheese, salad, w/ dessert.

Day 5

Breakfast-  Omelets with veggies and cheese.  Side of bacon and juice.

Lunch-  Sandwich Station.

Dinner-  Baked Potatoes, barbecued chicken  and salad.

Day 6

Breakfast-  Muffins, fruit and juice.

Lunch-  Sandwich Station.

Dinner-  Hot Dogs or Veggie Dogs, served with corn, beans, and a salad.  Dessert.

 

Day 7

Breakfast-  Pancakes, eggs, and bacon w/ juice.

Lunch-  Sandwich Station.

Dinner-  Pesto Spaghetti, with french bread and salad.

Day 8

Breakfast-  Yogurt, granola, fruit, and juice.

Lunch-  Sandwich Station.

Dinner-  Tacos, salad and corn on the cob.  Dessert.

 

Day 9

Breakfast-  A hearty pot of fried potatoes, onions, peppers, eggs, and cheese; w/ sausage links and juice.

Lunch-  Sandwich Station.

Dinner-  BBQ-Chicken, rice, cream of mushroom soup and salad.

Day 10

Breakfast-  Oatmeal, berries, fruit and juice.

Lunch-  Sandwich Station.

Dinner-  Hamburgers or veggie-burgers, salad, with  potato scramble.  Dessert.

What to Bring-

Clothing- Hat, gloves, sunglasses, socks (several pairs), hiking boots, sandals, long underwear, shorts, pants, tee-shirts, poly pro and /or fleece shirts (long sleeve), warm jacket, rain pants & jacket.

 

Camping Gear-

  Tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, bowl, plate, spoon, fork, knife, cooking stove (optional), water bottles (at least two), water filter (optional), a camping chair, bug spray,

 

Students are limited to two bags each.

One should be a backpacking style pack for an overnight, and the other should be a smaller day pack.
