# 1 - Detailed Itinerary
Pre-Day
After your scenic flight into Anchorage, catch the free airport
shuttle and enjoy a nice, quiet night relaxing in the hot tub at the
beautiful Hotel Name. Get
a good night sleep for a full day of adventure starting at 8:00am.
Day
One
To start your 8 day Scenic Tour, meet your personal Alaskan Guide
and climb in to a private 12 passenger van.
Drive down the costal Seward Highway making several
sightseeing stops. At
Beluga Point look for whales that swim in with the Cook Inlet’s
tide and eagles that fly with the swift air currents. Making our way down the Seward highway we’ll stop for a
visit at the Indian
Valley Mine. Once
in Homer, we’ll investigate the old Pratt Museum and study up on
Alaskan heritage. Given
the night free to roam the famous Homer
Spit, enjoy some fresh
Halibut or Salmon at one of several excellent local restaurants.
Day
Two
After breakfast we’ll cruise through Kachemak
Bay. Enjoy a Bird Sightseeing Tour and stop by a fish rookery.
Passing by Sadie Cove and then having two or three hours to
eat lunch and shop at Halibut Cove makes for a great afternoon.
Reboard and return by about 5pm and if interested, send home
some fresh freeze-dried Halibut or Salmon home.
Have the evening to enjoy dinner and go out for some live
music if it suits your fancy.
Day
Three
After a great breakfast, it’s off to
the Alaska Maritime Wild Life
Refuge, view a great variety of birds
and observe history displays. Next,
drive to Seward, get familiar with town, and grab some lunch.
Enjoy admission to the Seward Sea Life Center and study up
for the Wild Life Cruise that waits the following day.
Sleep is always an essence for an up coming big day.
Day
Four
Eating a big breakfast will give us plenty of strength to board a
vessel for a sightseeing tour of Prince William
Sound.
With pristine glaciers contouring the oceans coast we’ll
make our way into the most isolated scenery on the trip.
Sea Lions, Whales, Puffin’s, Otters, and Eagles, will most
likely be in sight. Eat
lunch at a local deli and spend the afternoon hiking out by Exit
Glacier. Return to the Lodge for a relaxing evening.
Day
Five
This morning is a little more laid back.
After a fabulous brunch, we’ll load the van and be off by
around ten. Stopping at
the Begich-Boggs Visitor Center will give you a better understanding
of Glacier terminology. Enjoy
a Boat Tour through the
contouring Portage Glacier walls.
Next, drive through the recently constructed tunnel that
leads to the remote town of Whittier; the tunnel is 20 minutes long; it is controlled by a
stoplight allowing traffic to flow in one direction every half hour.
Passing by Portage Glacier which boarders the narrow road
always makes for some beautiful coverage.
Grab a bite to eat, then relax and get some sleep.
Day
Six
Leave Whittier after breakfast in the stylish van and head toward a
rather sequestered town called Hope.
Go for a quick walk out to Byron Glacier and snap a couple
pictures. Make several
stops along the way to enjoy the rugged view of the secret side of
Turnagain Arm. Arrive in Hope and check out the antique town shop to shop.
After lunch, go to a local gold mining stream and if you’re
feelin’ lucky, people find nuggets regularly.
Enjoy a beautiful nature walk along the Cook Inlet; keep your
eyes peeled for Beluga Whales.
Day
Seven
Wake up, enjoy breakfast, and head off for the ski resort town
called Girdwood. Eating
lunch at the top of the tram will allow you to get a better view of
the Cook Inlet and the Turnagain Arm.
Next we will take a walk on the Winter Creek Trail which is
now connected by crossing a hand pulley tram over the gorge of
Winter Creek. In the
afternoon we will go on a glorious Flight Seeing Tour. Spend
the evening looking in the gift shops doing some last minute
shopping then enjoy a nice complimentary dinner.
Day
Eight
After Breakfast we will drive toward
Anchorage stopping at the Forget-Me-Not-Nursery along the costal
Seward Highway. Spend
the afternoon having a picnic on the coastal mountain called Flat
Top, getting a great view of Denali, the Ocean, and the city of
Anchorage. Last but not least visit the Alaskan Heritage Center in
the heart of Anchorage; it’s bound to teach you something of
interest. Be
dropped off at your hotel to sit back, relax, and soak it all in.

# 2 - Detailed Itinerary
Pre-Day
After your very scenic flight into Anchorage, catch the free airport
shuttle and enjoy a nice quiet night relaxing in the hot tub at the
beautiful Hotel Name. Get
a good night sleep for a full day of adventure starts at 8:00am.
Day
One
Start the morning with breakfast and a hot shower.
Meet your personal Alaskan guide in the Lobby of your hotel.
Initiate the first move toward pristine wilderness and
Alaskan wildlife by climbing into a private 12 passenger van.
Drive form Anchorage to Denali 237 miles and catch a
magnificent view of Mount McKinley. Spend the afternoon free to roam the popular gift shop strip
and enjoy a nice lunch. Keeping
in mind the long day ahead, try to retire early tonight for a full
day of adventure will start early the next morning.
Day
Two
Today we will be waking up by six in order to get something
in our bellies. We head
off on the Kantishna Wilderness Trails
Tour leaving at 6:40am.
There is about a 90 percent chance of seeing bears, mouse,
eagles, dual sheep, fox, lynx, coyotes, and other beautiful
wildlife. Feel free to
bring your cameras and snap roll after roll as we ride on the Park
Shuttle deep into the park on a well maintained gravel road.
Enjoy a complimentary lunch at the magnificent Kantishna
Lodge returning to the Lodge by 7:40 for another great nights sleep.
Day
Three
Start the morning with a scenic or adventure rafting
trip down the Nenana River (beginner or advanced).
Have some lunch in town then get ready for an afternoon of Horse
Back Riding on the old Stampede Road (if this doesn’t spark
you ask about an option); take a rustic look into the past as we
ride through nature the way the once did not long ago.
After dinner go out to some live music if interested, or just
relax and take it easy.
Day
Four
We’ll leave Denali today after some last minute shopping and head
down to Talkeetna 153 miles. We
will arrive in Talkeetna with plenty of time to check into our
lodge, eat lunch, and walk around the historic town.
This afternoon take a Jet Boat Safari Tour up the
scenic Talkeetna and Susitna Rivers.
With spectacular views of Mt. Denali, you are almost ensured
to see wildlife on this trip (weather permitting).
Having time to wind down you can enjoy a nice meal in down
town Talkeetna. A
good night sleep is again recommended.
Day
Five
This morning we head off from Talkeetna down to coastal Seward.
Spend the afternoon popping into native stores picking up
souvenirs and going to some walk-in museums.
Enjoy admission to the Seward Sea Life Center
which
has live Puffin, Sea Lions, Otters, History on Marine Fish, etc.
Use the remainder of the day to further educate yourself
about the surrounding area in preparation for the oncoming days.
Fall deep into sleep at your lodge.
Day
Six
Today we will awaken, eat breakfast, and then drive to the remote
town of
Whittier. The
State of Alaska has recently constructed a tunnel leading to
Whittier allowing the public to flow through one-way controlled by a
stop light every half hour; prior to this, transportation was
restricted to train, plane or ferry.
After having lunch we will board a vessel for a Sea Life
Cruise which will give us the opportunity to see many amphibious
mammals.
Day
Seven
After another great nights sleep, we will enjoy breakfast at the
Lodge. The van
will be loaded and ready to go by eleven in order to set off on one
of the most scenic drives of the trip.
Driving past the Portage Glacier just after the Whittier
Tunnel is quite a site. We’ll
take a quick stop in the Begich-Boggs
Visitor Center to learn more about Glacier terminology, and then
head off down the road to an old gold mine town called Indian
Valley. Enjoy a Gold
Mine Tour; some people have found gold in the creek beds to this
day. Some say you even
have better odds than Vegas. After lunch, drive to a unique town called Hope.
It was one of the first towns of settlement in the late
1800’s and has remained one of Alaska’s little secrets.
Hope has a population of less than 100 people in the summer
and even less in the winter. You will then be turned loose to check out the various shops
and enjoy the evening.
Day Eight
This morning we will indulge in an excellent
breakfast before
heading to Alyeska Ski Resort
in a town called Girdwood.
We will set off on a
short hike through the woods by way of
the
Winter Creek Trail.
Recently, the town of
Girdwood has constructed a hand powered
tram
car that takes you across the Winter Creek
Gorge.
After enjoying a bite to eat at a local restaurant, we’ll
hit the road again stopping at
Potters Marsh to check out some last minute
Alaska wetlands.
Maybe snapping a picture
or two
capturing the last memories of the trip.
Dropped off at your Hotel
you can take some
time to soak it all in and just relax.
